Well done, Shelle and Wendy! Lots of people don’t know that 11/11 was the day that the aitrsmice ending the fighting of WWI. Great summary of events, Shelle! In fact, the 11th of November was called “Armistice Day” until Eisenhower was president. Of course, The Great War had not turned out to be “war to end all wars.” After so many servicemen and women had fought in both WWII and the Korean conflict, the name “Armistice Day” was officially changed to “Veterans Day.”

I just saw Steve this weekend and
We all just missed him.
You can leave a message but there won’t be a reply.
Yes, he’s on another trip.
But you’ll have to wait to meet him there.
If you have questions, you’ll have to ask someone else now.
For you see, the Supreme Commander needed a Quartermaster more than we did.
And He got the very best.
Where’s Steve?
He’s got a new job with a corner office and a grand view.

It’s hard to lose a good guy like Steve.
I worked with him for many years as a fellow state worker (UI Auditor / Supervisor).
He was always willing to share his knowledge and kept a positive attitud about himself.

This is good news for our veterans! I would also like to share this that will surely help for our unemployed vets:

Eco-Vets!

They will hire vets to install low flush toilets. A Vet can have a well paying job and 9000 gallons per year will be saved! They can hire wounded worriors too.

will there be an open group not affiliate with a specific post, as I am the lone ranger and perfer to ride alone for safety and I do travel alot.

Nice article! I am a proud VFW Rider, actually a “Vander Clute” VFW Rider in Southern Illinois. I am hopeful that these new guidelines will spur VFW Posts to action. I understand that some in National are wary of “bikers” somehow tarnishing the image of the VFW but what they do not take into account is the positive Public Relations that a riders group can bring to the “V”… Not only that, but riders groups can appeal to YOUNGER veterans which means younger MEMBERS to bolster the VFW’s sagging membership numbers due to natural attrition (Father Time sees to that). OUR riders group is “full steam ahead”! We have a great post as our sponsor, the post has increased DRAMATICALLY in new members and transfers into our Post and mens/ ladies auxiliaries and we riders are present for post functions such as BINGO to lendour older comrades a much appreciated hand. Riders groups are a WIN-WIN for the “V”… It’s a shame this is a “bottom up” program, but time will prove the rider group’s worth. Respects and take care “up there”.
