Veteran Quest, Ltd. is a nonprofit clinical program serving veterans and their families. It provides in-house therapeutic services, peer support and community outreach programs, to veterans of both active and reserve status, readjusting to civilian life. WEIGHT LOSS FOR VETERANS
The VA has a great weight loss program for veterans called MOVE! Please ask about this program at your VA. For those in the Milwaukee area! The Milwaukee VA has started a program MOVE OUT! They are looking for 16 posts in the Milwaukee area to serve as MOVE OUT sites. The post will need to provide space for MOVE OUT activities and secure storage spots for the equipment. These posts will receive $200 per year for three years in addition to weight loss activities, equipment and materials. THERAPY-EAT
Equine Assisted Therapy (EAT) is a proven method of effective therapy for most debilitating issues service related. Those who have PTSD, anxiety, TBI or other related injuries and disabilities will benefit from this form of therapy, many have said evenmoreso than traditional therapeutic measures. Please look for your nearest horse riding stables or animal therapy programs to see if they offer EAT. Some places that do offer it for free are Trinity Equestrian Center (TEC) in Eau Claire, WI, their website is: www.trinity-ec.com. and Stepping Stones Farms, located in Franksville, WI, their website is: www.steppingstonefarms.org. VFW Testifies on VA Budget
On Wednesday, VFW testified before the House VA Committee as part of an Independent Budget (IB) panel on the FY 2013 VA budget. The IB, now in its 26th year, captures the full picture of what VA needs to care for veterans.
